X-Terra Triathlon – Victoria
XTERRA Victoria is part XTERRA World Tour.
Swim in the crystal clear waters of Durrance Lake, bike the world class mountain bike trails of Mt. Work Park, and run in the scenic wilderness trails of the Partridge Hills. This is a tough race course. Are you up for the challenge?
There are 26 spots available at XTERRA Victoria to the XTERRA World Championships.
There are two adult race distances in the triathlon as well as a sprint distance duathlon. The sprint race is approximately half the distance of the championship race and is more suited to less experienced off road triathletes. The championship course is the qualifier for the XTERRA World Championships.
One qualifying spot for the XTERRA World Championships will be offered to the first place finisher in each age group, male and female, in the Championship event with additional spots being allocated by XTERRRA
The Championship event swim is two 750m counter clockwise loops in Durrance Lake, a small, clear mountain lake, for a total of 1500m. The Sprint event swim is one 750m counterclockwise loop. Wetsuits are permitted, depending on water temperature on race morning. Permitting of wetsuits is determined by the head race official and will be announced at approximately 7 am on race morning.
Athletes wishing to swim in skin suits may only do so if they wear the skin suit for the reminder of the race.
New for 2022, we have made a change to the bike course. We have replaced the Switchbacks descent with Torpedo Run. This change removes a challenging technical descent and replaces it with a designated downhill trail. The course description has been updated with the changes in blue text. The GPS track has been updated.
The Championship event bike course is 24k made up of two modified loops of a 12k route primarily in the trails of Mt. Work Park, commonly known as “The Dump”. The course follows a variety of double and single track trails with climbs descents, and lots of fast, flowing trails. Be prepared for a challenge. The Sprint bike course is one loop of the same course. Mountain bikes only will be allowed to be used on the bike course. No cross or road bikes allowed.
The Championship triathlon run course is two 5 K loops following the lake trail and a section of the Partidge Hills trail system. There are some flat sections, some narrow winding sections, some steep uphills and lots of rolling downhills. The Sprint triathlon follows one loop of this course. The Saturday trail run follows three loops of this course. View the route on Trail Forks here.
